The Reverend Bob Bettson, the current priest at Canon Davis Memorial, is a newcomer to Sarnia. He comes to Canon Davis after ministering in the Dioceses of Calgary and Brandon since 2001.
Ministry is Bob's second vocation, having first served as a journalist for both secular and religious publications for two decades until 1996. He was a staff writer for the Alberta Report, the Calgary Herald and the United Church Observer.
Bob studied theology at Trinity College, Toronto School of Theolgy, graduating in 2001 with a Master of Divinity. He was ordained by the Diocese of Calgary, and has served parishes in Didsbury, Calgary, and Dauphin, Manitoba.
Bob was editor of both the Diocese of Calgary's Newspaper, The Sower, and the Diocese of Brandon's Newspaper, The Mustard Seed. He is now a contributor to the Huron Church News.
Bob and his wife Coline are happy to be in Sarnia, living next door to Canon Davis in the church's spacious rectory. Coline is a retired teacher. They have four children, all living in Ontario, and are proud grandparents of Gary, born in 2010 to Graham and Cari in Timmins, ON., and Elizabeth, born in 2011 to Colin and Lisa, living in Toronto.
The other occupants of the rectory are Wally, a friendly five year old border collie mix, and three kittens adopted in 2011--Layton, Marley and Lightfoot.
